Carlo Dorin, Going For His Goal!

As a child, we all experienced playing under the scorching heat of the sun. Dragged by friends, we play games such as Tag, or a less traditional sport such as kicking a bottle or a ball toy and call it Football. Who would have guessed that by merely playing outside, a kid already discovered his passion? Presenting, Grade 11 student and Azkals Development Team player, Carlo Dorin.

His journey started at the age of 11 when his peers would invite him to play football outside. He remembers that he only wore slippers that time and was simply enjoying the game. He got noticed by a Football coach and told him he has potential in the sport. Carlo made good use of the potential and seized the opportunity to train officially.

In 3 years on the club, he was not free from struggles. Carlo said, “Minsan, pagkatapos maglaro nawawala ako sa sarili.”. He also mentioned that balancing his career in sports and studies is difficult, especially during the pandemic.

Despite all of that, Carlo stayed persistent and determined. What kept him going is the thought of helping his family live a better and more comfortable life. Motivated, he continued to train his agility to fulfill his role as a striker. He also managed to catch up on lectures and activities at the same time. When faced with challenges, he developed a habit of lifting his problems and asking for God’s guidance.

Carlo expressed his gratitude towards his support system: family and friends who motivate him, teachers and classmates who help him academically, and coaches that inspire and encourage him to reach his full potential. He shared his biggest takeaway from his coach, “Do not forget where you came from, keep your feet on the ground.”. Applying this principle, he started sharing his knowledge of the sport with fellow players.

As we end, Carlo emphasized that he is on his way to reach his goal to become a Senior Azkal player next season. Family, friends, coaches, and CL showed full support and wished him luck and Godspeed.

Let’s keep an eye on this rising star!
