Come Christmas Time

Come Christmas time, under the tree, a girl received three gifts of which she harkened in content, they looked so moonlight-kissed a box of shiny paper bills, a box for strings of jewels and one for an ugly knit “with love” she thought was made for fools.


The paper bills she lost on useless scrap and little nothings. The jeweled strings lost shine too soon and itched what skin was touching. But when the storm blew through her town and threatened her with weather, t’was nothing else that kept her safe than the warmth of that ‘vile’ sweater.
