ICT as a Unique Artistic Dimension

How does one appreciate something as subjective as art? Appreciation of art is ultimately a matter of personal interpretation. However, to “enjoy” and to “appreciate” differ not only in meaning but also in the manner in which they are executed.

Art is present in various forms – from the buildings that define our landscapes to the machinery and technology that develop in tandem with society. To highlight this connection, it is important to consider the significant role of graphic design in ICT. Graphic designers create visually appealing materials that do more than just convey information; they also evoke emotions and shape how we perceive content. Thus, it is only fitting that art has made its mark in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

What is “ICT” anyway? How can art be integrated into this subject? Why would art be incorporated relevant in such a context? One might assume that its inclusion is merely due to the need for illustrations. While this is indeed a factor, true proficiency in any field requires fundamental passion for the subject. What greater skill exists than the ability to love what one does? ICT encompasses numerous correlations to art, including advertisement, news, infographics, and more.

In love, there is art. In skill, there is love. It should come as no surprise that art is omnipresent; discovering art in a technological context such as ICT is no different than finding a fork in a kitchen.

In honour of  ICT and its own unique artistic dimensions, Christian Legacy is proud to showcase the art contributed by its talented students.
