Legacies are Forever

“Our legacy is to transform nations through education that values character formation.” - Joy May A. Muleta, Directress of Christian Legacy

In 2012, a mother was seeking a school for her daughter to attend. She could not find one that would satisfy what she wanted for her daughter’s growth; so, she took it upon herself to start her own school! A hybrid of homeschool and regular school, starting at a humble room that was the size of an office!

Now, this school has grown to great heights, impacting many lives and creating a community, even as a new season of life comes by. This school is known as Christian Legacy Integrated Learning and Tutorial Center.

The year 2022 marks the 10th anniversary of our school! In celebration of this milestone, the Royal Tribune had the pleasure to interview Miss Sarah Muleta, former student and now ABM teacher at her own alma mater, to help us learn more about CL’s history. This is especially a treat to some of the new faces in CL as we go down Christian Legacy’s memory lane.

CL started in a small office-sized room in the home of a family Miss Sarah knew. Though they were able to operate a full school in such a small place the eventual growth led to another problem as cars kept piling up the driveway. The barangay had to ask them to move somewhere else with all of the cars coming in! Despite this setback, a “blessing in disguise” happened. They were in contact with someone in Treston who told them that there were available rooms in the Treston building for rent. So, CL settled in their new home, and they have been staying there since 2014.

Many of you may know of Film Fest. In fact, many of you might also miss the event - Miss Sarah is on the same boat with all of you! Film Fest was an event where students were given the opportunity to create high-quality films and showcase them to the whole school. They were usually held in the BGC Arts Center with students, teachers, and guests in formal attire. It originated from Sir James Muleta when he worked part-time for CL. He introduced filmmaking as a required class, which turned optional later since not every student liked filmmaking. It turns out that many students were passionate about filmmaking, which led to the first-ever Film Fest in 2016 - 2017.

Miss Sarah prefers the films to be shown on the big screen as she believes that it affirms their skills and talents by giving them the platform for visually creative students. It was a momentous event that was sadly discontinued when COVID-19 hit. As much as Miss Sarah and everyone else would like for Film Fest to return, it would not have the same effect if it were not to be held physically.

Another event that many of you may not know about is the International field trips! Thanks to partner schools, CL students were able to visit Malaysia and Singapore.

The reason behind these adventurous trips

was to cultivate life skills in a new environment. Miss Sarah reminds us that part of CL’s values (CLASS) is Life skills, and the international field trips became a great avenue to develop life skills. Students would be exposed to traveling internationally, managing their money, and immersing themselves in different cultures. Students chosen for these trips would differ in grade levels, which allows students from different ages to bond and learn from each other.

Unfortunately, a great experience that students look forward to has also been discontinued due to COVID-19 restrictions. International field trips shall be surely missed by everyone!

When asked what the greatest achievement CL has achieved, Miss Sarah could not pinpoint just one. She said that CL has achieved multiple things over the past 10 years, with one obvious achievement being 10 years of schooling! Miss Sarah pointed out the impact that the CL community in their school has on students. She is really grateful that Christian Legacy has built a caring community, which does its best to include everyone in the CL family. Though the difficulty of being a CL student is high and the setup of online learning makes social bridges harder to form, the community of students, teachers, and parents remains strongly connected.

With such a closely-knit community, students have been impacted by the school; this is the greatest achievement that Miss Sarah believes that CL has achieved. CL is able to give their students a dream to pursue and help them realize who they are as individuals. Even after graduation and moving on from CL, alumni do recount their experiences in CL and how they helped them grow in their lives.

Miss Sarah has a message for the future students and batches of Christian Legacy. That is, to embrace the system here in CL. Though you may not feel its benefits at first, later in your lives you will see its impact. Enjoy the loving people in the CL community and push through all the challenges you face here.

“Eventually, you will be rewarded for your hard work - not only in awards but also in how you have grown as a person.” - Sarah Muleta,

Thank you, Miss Sarah, for generously giving us the opportunity to learn about Christian Legacy’s history and milestones!

With all of that said, what better way to celebrate our 10th anniversary than an actual celebration. Join us in our Foundation Day celebration, happening on Feb 24, at 2 pm via Zoom.
