My Therapeutic Solace

Playing basketball and shooting hoops has always been my preferred getaway every since I learned how to play the game. Basketball is more than just a game or a physical activity, for me, it's therapy.

Shooting hoops serves as my therapeutic escape when life gets challenging and messy, helping me clear my mid, calm my thoughts and reflect on life. Playing basketball on the court is like the calm in the middle of life's storm, a peacefull place where things make sense even when everything else feels chaotic.

Moving around the court, every bounce of the ball echoes like a heartbeat, a calm and steady rhythm in the quiet. In these calm moments, I find comfort, as if the court is a friend quietly listening to all the things I can't put into words. When I am shooting hoops on the court, I feel in control and everything else seems to be in harmony with me, dancing where every move flows as effortlessly as a leaf drifting in a gentle breeze.

The swish of the net as the ball goes through it is the best feeling when playing basketball. The sound the net makes is so satisfying as if the net itself is cheering for you. When taking the shot, as the ball leaves my fingertips, there is a moment of suspended time where I am uncertain about whether or not my shot will make it.

SImilar to life there are moments where you are uncertain of something, and moments of hesitation. But just like taking a shot, it is better to embrace these uncertainties to find out the possible outcomes or the beauty that may unfold. This resonates with a quote from the author one of my favorite books, stating,

"The greatest risk is not taking one."

Shooting for the hoops is like taking a chance in life. Sometimes it goes in, sometimes it doesn't, but every attempt is a learning experiene.
